There are a variety of different levers available today, but all are more or less the same: to pull a cable move a derailleur in one direction and then releasing the cable to allow the spring to move the derailleur in the opposite direction.
Most bicycles these days the use index shifters are mounted on the handlebars. Index shifters make a click every time you made a gear change, which prevents the pilots to lose a turn. They are much easier to use than the traditional levers of friction type, is found mainly in older bikes. Friction controls are usually mounted in the tube down two levers as the pilot moves up or down to move the derailleurs. For someone not used to friction shifters, which can be a little disconcerting to take the hand of the handlebars to make a change.
Most changers of today do not require much maintenance and are not designed for be dismantled. In some cases, you can use the levers replaced, but if the internals of the shifter starts to wear out and clicks are less different, it is likely that time to replace the levers.
All you can do is take a spray lever occasional light lubrication in internal parts. Run the gear lever a few times after application, and wipe away any excess fat.

I am training for my first triathlon – Olympic distance – as part of Team in Training. Many team members have invested in the Nice triathlon bikes, but I can not afford that. I have the light gray cotton shirt I want black. Could be to a craft store and buy black fabric dye? I seem strange? What about a light green shirt, because I'd do that too. I do not know if you can only dye white shirts or not. thanks!
A cotton shirt is the black dye well and can do in your washing machine. Only have to follow the instructions on the fabric dye. Rit dye instructions recommend using brand extra dye for dark colors, to buy more for black. Can need to add salt as directed. It is also a good idea to add a tablespoon of mild detergent. If the shirt is new, wash without fabric softener before the dying process. During the dyeing process, be sure to shake all the time the shirt is in the dye bath to ensure that the color is uniform. Some tips Note: The thread probably not "take" the dye, so it may appear lighter than the rest of the shirt. This may sound good, or it may appear rare. Seat height compared cyclocross bike with road Bike Seat height?
I have had great difficulty in setting the height of seat my cyclocross bike as my road bike shows. Part of the problem is different pedals / shoes for each facility. Speedplay road bike has approximately X2 11 mm stack height (including the bagpipe?) Shoes are Sidi Genius 3s. Cross bike has Crank Bros Candy SL with a stack height of 15 mm. The Lake MTB shoes are. Position is approximately the same length. Crank arms are 175 mm for the two bikes. Given that information, would you say that the seat of the bike cross should be 4 mm higher than the road bike? My right knee is very sensitive to a seat that is too low or too high, and now I can not seem to duplicate the road bike.
I'm not exactly sure why this is a problem. Why measure anything? I got the seat height of my bike independently of each other. I simply mount and make adjustments by trial and error. Knowing what I want is everything you need to make adjustments. Pedals, cranks security models none of that matters as the out come is the standard height used for himself. It takes me a little more time to dial in the length of the stem and the front seat and aft adjustment.
