Bicycles China Sourcing Report
Exports are already off to a good start. In the first four months of 2010, total shipments of bicycles and motor cycles grew 18 percent year over year to 17.5 million units, while revenue rose 8 percent to 929.5 million U.S. dollars. Parts and accessories industry generated more than 689 million U.S. dollars, registering an increase of 28 percent.
The Asia-Pacific and North America were the main destinations for non-motorized bicycles, which accounts for 636.3 million U.S. dollars the value of the goods or nearly 80 percent of the total. For electricity and other types of motor cycles, EU was the main market, with imports exceeding $ 73,000,000 or 60 percent of China's total.
To maintain or improve overall profitability, many companies are moving their sales mix towards higher-value models, focusing on electric models, and improve manufacturing and quality control.
