bike ride in Ohio?
I really want to start going to work with my bike, but I have many questions. please answer what I can. thanks! i live 25 miles from my work (I live in Johnstown, Ohio and work in Delaware, Ohio), is this too far to travel, the road is in the midst of this most and high traffic sites in one place? what type of defenses bike would you suggest? my bike uses 27-inch wheels that have to fit. what type of luggage you suggest? a rear rack? anything you can tell me that would help streamline the entire process would be great.
I use a standard rack back (from traffic around $ 14.00) and defenses (not much needed in Los Angeles). I use a rack trunk daily (food, tools, etc) plus one of the bags to beginning of the week (for work clothes) and at the end of the week (to bring home dirty clothes). I ride 20 miles each way to Los Angeles La Habra, about 1.5 hours way. Takes some getting used to, riding with traffic. Use a mirror, but looking back always check before changing lanes. Indicate your intentions. Try to be courteous to the car, which will have to deal with the same people each day in cars, but does not get too close to the sidewalk / curb. Wear colors refective bright and have a light / refectors. Remember certain times of year the sun is in the eyes of the driver and may be unable to see that (especially cars turning left). Read everything you can about the insurance cycle.
