When to get 7-speed Campagnolo Nuovo Record?
I just bought sweets from the 80 Pinarello a few weeks ago one that has a mix of Nuovo Record and Gran Sport components. I'm trying to identify the year. There is no serial number, only "Pinarello" printed on the bottom bracket, which is not helpful. Nuovo Record has a 7-speed rear derailleur. What year did make a Campy NR 7-speed? It moves only by the friction (non-indexed option.)
I know that a non-indexed Nuovo Record derailleur had a sufficient scale to use a speed of 7 as early as 1974, perhaps earlier, although most Bicycle of the time were 5 or 6 speeds. I know Zeus also sold freewheels from 7 speeds around 1973 models and all its Criterium and 2000 had ability to use and the technology was there. There must be a number in the body cast change that will identify the year of manufacture.
