A Kitchen Faucet Valve Guide
The valve is the heart of the faucet and controls the volume of water. There are four types of valves tap:
Compression valves

Cartridge
Cartridge faucets operate with a mobile cartridge stem moves up and down to regulate the flow. They identify more with how feel when operating at their appearance. Unlike a ball valve is pressed again to turn on a single handle faucet cartridge runs in an up / down movement to adjust the volume of water and left / right movement of the temperature.
Similarly, a two handle faucet stem cartridge is almost indistinguishable a compression type washer faucet. However, once again, you can tell the difference by how the handles feel when used.
A compression faucet required to squeeze (compress) the washer to close the water flow. With a cartridge faucet, the action is smooth and consistent. When the handle reaches the off position faucet turns off without added pressure being required as a compression faucet.

The cartridge faucet eliminates WASHERS losses associated with washers. It also features one-piece assembly autonomous. Fewer parts means fewer things to go wrong. Replacing the cartridge is easy … You can remove the old and put in the new without the hassle of many components complex.
Ceramic disc
This is the valve of high quality. They are identifiable by their single lever on a cylindrical wide. These valves have a wide range of cartridge housing two ceramic discs which slide over each other to control water flow and temperature of the mixture.
Ceramic disc valve uses two ceramic discs hardened by fire: an upper disc that moves and a lower fixed disk. The two discs move against each other in an action cutting, blocking the water or allowing it to pass through. The seal between the two discs is watertight because they are polished to near-perfect flatness.
Hardened ceramic is a durable material that is virtually indestructible and is guaranteed not to wear, but is obviously much more expensive than the ball valve or compression valve. If have to fix it, its cost will be higher, but the probability is virtually zero. For the key to go with a more durable material solid brass base and a valve ceramic disc.
